The Charquini Lagoon is located at 4600 meters above sea level. This lagoon is surrounded by imposing snow-capped mountains, offering visitors a dreamlike landscape. Activities that can be done here, in addition to trekking, include landscape photography, as you can see the Huayna Potosi snow-capped peak, reservoirs, and lagoons along the way, including the Red Lagoon and the Milluni Cemetery, which has a striking history of the 1965 massacre. A variety of birds can be observed. This lagoon stands out for its different landscapes depending on the season. During the rainy season, it offers a unique view surrounded by snow, while in winter, it provides a unique view of the frozen lagoon due to the harsh winter. If you're looking for an authentic destination away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the Charquini Lagoon is the ideal place, as it has become one of the most popular attractions to visit in La Paz.
| The itinerary begins at 7 a.m. at the concentration point, with a brief 10-minute stop to acquire food. The trip to Laguna Charquini Cara Sur takes approximately 2 hours, arriving at 9 a.m. From there, a hike around the lagoon begins, exploring the natural beauty of the area and observing the local wildlife. At 12 p.m., there is a break for lunch by the lagoon, allowing time to enjoy the scenery and relax. After lunch, exploration of the area continues, with time to take photographs and rest.
